Monday, April 20, 2009
This uninhabited, privately owned island is located off the east coast of Baja in the Sea of Cortez. It is approximately 60 miles east of the city of La Paz. Cerralvo is located in the northeastern region of Nuevo León, in the region of the coastal plain of the gulf and in the cattle raiser-agricultural, northeastern economic zone that is formed besides by the municipalities of Agualeguas, General Treviño, and Ocampo.

The historic origin of this municipality was the exploitation of the abundant mining resources in that epoch. The first settlers were dedicated to the exploitation of mines and the selling of Indians to the Spaniards. With one of the best, most consistent climates in the world, development of an exclusive eco resort would appeal to eco tourists from around the world.
